I remember, this photo was taken on a rainy Sunday morning. It was Mother’s Day, to be exact. The original plan was to spend Saturday night in Puerto Galera. But the typhoon caught us the next day just when we were about to go home. In the end, we got stranded, and forced to spend that night drinking and singing our lungs out. I woke up the next morning with one of my worst hangovers, ever. But dammit, it was all worth it.

Day 11 — A photo of you taken recently

SEPTEMBER 12, 2009. Trying-hard-to-play-the-drums ME!

so like, when you say “photo of you taken recently”, i took it as “photo of you taken 8 months ago.” hahaha whaaaat? :p so yes. this is another snapshot of me during my 18th bday. this was my intermission *slash* Cherry’s Got Talent portion. HAHA i played Taylor Swift’s Love Story. and i kind of messed up. im sure someone noticed it. haha well, my original plan was to learn the guitar and sing and play The Calling’s Wherever You Will Go. well, i learned it but not so good. and a day before my big day, i’ve decided to just stop being a hypocrite (because im no guitar-player, really HAHA) and be true to myself. yes, that’s where the “drummer” part comes in, though i’m not good. really. well i fcked it up a bit because i only made up my mind the day before my debut so i had no time to practice. fortunately, my guests loved it (well, they should! they’re my guests after all. HAHA)

this was sorta dream-come-true for me. one item in my checklist is: To play in a major rock concert/lotsa people. CHECK! :)

K, i feel like telling this story. i was a Senior in high school (just so you know, i’m an incoming Senior in college, so yeah that was almost 4 yrs ago) when one of my classmates asked me if i know how to play the drums because they are planning to form a band. and i said i don’t know how but i’ve always dreamed of learning and playing it. so she said she knew someone who can help me and i took the opportunity. we formed a band (an all-girl band!) and we had jamming sessions after class. it was fun. one of my most-fun days ever, i can say. but you know, college happened and the three of them went to the same school and i was alone in my university. so yeah, we kinda ended it. but now, i wish we didn’t. and that’s the story of how i became a trying-hard drummer.

PS. reasons why i love to play drums:

  • it isn’t that common in girls to know how to play drums. not even boys.
  • it is a really really good stress-reliever. you know the feeling when you wanna hit those people giving you bad vibes? well, you hit the cymbals and the drums and you let your feelings out. bow!
  • i used to play the piano but i got bored playing it.
  • i just love it and i think it’s kinda cool.
